The principal issue with most Federal legacy enterprise applications is their inability to perform mission-critical decision support. With the Associative Indexing System (AIS), built on Relavance Technology, data from legacy applications can provide timely decision support in real-time or near real-time.

Thanks to the Relavance™ Associative Indexing System (AIS) from ASC, there's now a way to do just that.

The AIS can provide full-function, "secondary" indexing to a legacy database repository. As an associative index, the AIS can also absorb complex content (images, documents, etc.) that cannot be stored in a relational index.

When deployed in conjunction with an enterprise application, the AIS can furnish answers to any and all necessary decision support queries that can possibly be answered from the data repository.

A single AIS implementation can also index related information from multiple enterprise data repositories, thereby effectively merging stove piped applications for any decision support purpose. This eliminates most existing synchronization errors that occur across independent enterprise databases.

Due to the efficiency of associative indexing, an AIS for a mainframe application can be installed on relatively inexpensive hardware suites.

How big of an installation can the AIS index? ASC is currently installing a large-scale AIS for the US Navy's Inventory Control Point in Mechanicsburg, Pa. The application, called Smart ACHF, provides real-time support to determine Authorized Allowance Quantities (AQ) by ship and by NIIN. The design envelope of the application includes a 100 million record basic table of allowance transactions and two multi-tiered hierarchies, with more than ten million segments in each. Each real-time transaction must do up to 10 separate queries at once, each query of which must do a complete multi-level search of both hierarchies followed by a select of records from the basic table. The resulting sets of basic records must then be processed chronologically to determine the current AQ for each given ship/NIIN combination. The Smart ACHF is a real-time application designed to handle 250 concurrent user sessions.

There is finally a simple and relatively inexpensive solution to data mining for the enterprise.
