Associative Configuration Management System™(ACMS) is a comprehensive system for requirements definition, specification, technology selection, integration, and visualization of complex service-oriented network architectures (SOAs). ACMS provides complete configuration management of SOA components including version identification and control, component interface, and comprehensive configuration identification, form/ fit/ function tracking, requirements fulfillment, and robust change control. It accomplishes all of this in an associative environment -- so that configuration identifications and information can be researched very rapidly in real time. ACMS includes a proven robust "upper" Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool. This tool, originally developed as a requirements tracking and tracing tool ensures that users derive the maximum value fro components they already own, and provides users with the capability of integrating open source, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), Government off-the-shelf (GOTS), and custom hardware software and services technologies. ACMS is especially well suited to planning and managing modernization efforts, reusing critical complex technologies and components.
There are two primary uses for ACMS:
1. Adaptive Reuse. For all of the technical flaws and faults in legacy systems, they typically
represent years of functional knowledge about how best to support your
mission-critical business processes. If your current business model is
fundamentally broken or outdated, you may need comprehensive business
process re-engineering (BPR). If not, chances are that you can benefit
from a substantially quicker, lower cost and more effective system replacement
approach called adaptive reuse. ASC's system
engineers will use ACMS first to
define and then to adapt your legacy behavior model. ASC’s engineers begin by analyzing and documenting your current system's behavior
model in ACMS. Then, ASC engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs) will work with your users
to determine what's wrong or undesirable about the current system's behavior.
We will also suggest any changes to the system's behavior model that may
be more in keeping with best commercial practices. ASC will then adapt the legacy system's behavior model to reflect all of these
approved changes, and reuse it to create a new requirements baseline for
replacing the legacy system.
2. Modernization Oversight.
If you are migrating a complex, Agency-wide set of systems and
requirements to a modernized new environment, ACMS
can help you keep track of all the relevant information.
ACMS can also help you
consolidate disparate requirements documents and convert them
to verifiable specifications.
Due to the complexity of Adaptive Reuse and
Modernization Oversight, ASC
does not recommend that you evaluate ACMS
as a shrink-wrapped CASE tool. Effective use of ACMS
will realistically require several ASC engineers
for much of the duration of your project.
